Modern

Offered to experienced students by invitation only.

Modern embraces the use of gravity in order to enhance movements. While dancers must have a knowledge of ballet, modern works in opposition to the technical limitations of ballet and typically favors more free style and relaxed movements.

Emphasis is placed on encouraging dancers to use their emotions to interpret the music, as well as not following a structured code of technique.

Appropriate dance attire includes black leotard and black footless tights. Black dance shorts are also permitted. Students should have bare feet. Hair should be pulled back in a ponytail.
