Recital Tips and Tricks
Recital is just around the corner, and we could not be more ecstatic! To best prepare you in the final days before the official performance, we've put together a list of tips and tricks that will set you up for a successful recital!
Arrive Early - "The Show Must Go On" is a motto in the arts world for a reason! As much as we would like to - we cannot wait for any late dancers and audience members. Your class will go on stage at their scheduled time whether you are there or not, and we definitely want you there!! Make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes early to your scheduled rehearsal and recital times, so your dancer can ensure you'll get your five minutes of fame, in the spotlight!! If you have any questions about when your rehearsal or recital times are, visit our Member Portal on the TDA website to double check!
Bring Everything - If you think there is even a slight chance that you may need it, bring it with you! Make sure all of your costume performance parts and pieces are in your bag, and ready to go prior to getting dressed for the recital. A last minute rush to find the headpiece or anything else will just cause stress during a weekend that supposed to be fun! Pack extra bobby-pins, tights, band-aids, and more!
Label It All - Chances are you're dancing with other individual that have the same costumes, head pieces, tights and shoes as you. It's easy to mix things up, especially during quick changes, and in a very full dressing room. Ensure you or your dancer are getting on stage with all the right parts and pieces by labeling everything with your name!
Know Your Schedule - Whether you memorize, take a screen shot, a picture of it or print some old school copies, make sure you know your schedule like the back of your hand! If you have multiple dances, be sure to write down the order you need to put your costumes on in, so you're prepared and ready when the time comes!
Fuel Up - Dancing takes a lot of energy, and fueling your body properly is a huge part of performing well! Make sure before you perform, you enjoy a healthy meal and/or snack that will give you long lasting energy for the day!
Recital is one of our favorite times of year, and we work to do everything possible to ensure it goes off without a hitch. For an extra smooth performance, we need your help in making sure your recital prep is top notch, and you're ready to go for the big day!
